Good Morning,
Today begins the last assignment for our CTE-STEM class for this year. This final assignment will have one TinkerCad snowflake to copy from this week's video plus +++ another TinkerCad snowflake of your own design. They will both be turned in together on the same png file. So watch the video, and do you best on both snowflakes. (yes, they have to be different)

Good Morning,
As we work on and submit assignments, please realize that the initial grade for the project does not have to be the final grade. After you submit your project for evaluation, check your grade in Focus. If the grade is 100, well and good. If however the grade is 60, there was a problem with your submitted project.
You are not stuck with the 60, but can show up during my online office hours, MWF from 1-2:30 pm and visit with me about changes that can be made to correct the project and raise your grade.
If you don't talk with me, I cannot help. Come online to Google Meet and visit with me. The password is monnigcte.

Good Morning,
We will have two more assignments, one this week, one next week and a dead week with no new projects. As usual, the final week is reserved for makeup work.
For this week, go to the TinkerCad Training page. At the bottom you will find a video tutorial of this week's assignment. This weeks video with captions should be enough to help you through this project. I'm not planning to publish a step by step on this project.
If you have a question, send me an email and I'll get back to you, promptly.

Good Morning,
We've had a pretty good week, and lots of work has come in to be graded. We are still receiving Fill in the Blanks worksheets that have not been completed. I'm sorry, I just don't know how you can get a downloaded assignment confused with a completed assignment. You have very little space to put things in your Google Drive, and really no way or need to save an extra copy.
Download the document from the class website page. When the document opens on your Chromebook, look for the Download arrow in the upper left hand corner just above the document. Click the Download arrow. This will essentially save your document. Browse to My Files and click on Google Drive. in the bottom left hand corner, click the New Folder Button. A new folder will open in "My Drive". While New Folder is highlighted in blue, type in the name, CTE Chromebook. Click on the blue OPEN button. Click the blue SAVE button. Your download is complete. You can open this folder in My Files/Google Drive and then open the document and work on it. When you finish work and close it will automatically save.
When you want to Submit Your Work for grading. Just go to the website and open the Submitting Your Work page. Click on the correct period button for your class, browse to find your work in the Google Drive/CTE Chromebook folder, select and upload it to be graded.
Please don't continue to turn in work that has not been executed. Do the assignment. Talk to me on Google Classroom, email, or Google Meets on MWF and get your questions answered.
Peace,
RB

Good Morning,
We had several students turn in work on Wednesday. Some turned in completely finished TinkerCad Bag Clips a full week early. Finishing the Bag Clip was to be next week's assignment. But many have managed to get this done without additional step by step instructions. Good job finishing the Bag Clip just with the video instructions in the Welcome to TinkerCad video.
On another note, we are still having students try to turn in the two fill in the blank documents ... without filling in the blanks. That's going to be a 50 if you haven't already discovered that in Focus for yourselves.
As I've note in an earlier post to you both here and on the website, you can single click to open a fill in the blank on a pc desktop or pc laptop. But on a Chromebook, you have to triple click to open a fill in the blank question before you can answer it.
Ok, the completed first four steps of the Bag Clip is due tomorrow. Good luck.

We had several students complete and turn in work Monday and Tuesday. Thanks to all who did. Some even went above and beyond, completely finishing the Bag Clip ... which isn't actually due until Friday of next week.
On the other hand, several turned in work with errors that caused them to receive only partial credit (50). Some turned work in to the wrong period. Some had the png turned so that I couldn't tell much about the shape or the size. Please adjust the setting, the "pose" of the project before sharing with me.
If your Focus grade shows only a 50 for the results of your work you need to discuss the project with me and try to resolve the issue. Everyone is eligible to receive a 100 for correctly completed work...even corrected or makeup work. I will be glad to help you to understand what I need to see to award a perfect score of 100 for your assignment.
Talk to me, please. Email me if you have quesitons

This week we will begin the Bag Clip TinkerCad project. You will find the complete project in the video you've already seen once called, Welcome to TinkerCad. I would suggest you begin the week by watching the video a second and perhaps a third time (its short). Then download the instructions for this Bag Clip project at the bottom of the TinkerCad page. Read the instructions carefully and pay attention to the illustrations. If you have questions, bring them to the regular Google Meet (password...monnigcte...), and we'll try to address your questions. See you then.

Thanks to all who participated this week. Thanks to Adelyn Warren, Richard Garcia (yours needs a little work), Zachary Lawless (your turn in needs work), Carlos Jimenez, Daniel Kim -two jobs (one needs a little work), Mia Price this morning, and Brooklyn Williams. Good job boys and girls..
I hope you will pay attention to my post and website notes on the fill in the blank question assignments. I'm sorry there was a problem with those, but I didn't have a chromebook to see how they would look to you boys and girls. I was able to (fairly) quickly map out a solution to one of our most common assignments once I had it in my hands. Briefly, if the instruction say click to type or drag to highlight (and type), simply triple click to select and type in your answers.. If you are lucky enough to have a pc of some kind to work on, a click to select and type will work fine. Be sure to avoid saving, as it will save the Word docx file as a Google doc ... and you can't submit that to the Submitting Your Work Page on the website. Instead, download the completed docx file to your Google Drive folder as a docx file. You can open a menu when you download that allows you to choose what KIND of file your are downloading. Just pay attention to what you're doing.
The Red Block TinkerCad assignment is due today. Be sure and get it in, or at least by tomorrow morning. I will be sending out Progress Reports as regularly scheduled on Saturday morning.
I would love to see more of you participating. If you need help, I will be available MWF from 1:00 pm thru 2:30 pm. That includes today, by the way.
If you are a new student, pay attention. I need to visit with you online today. Click on Google Meet on your computer, and join me online by typing in the password ..... monnigcte ......
Ok, that's all for today. Remember, if you have questions, drop in at my Google Meeting today.

Working with Fill In The Blank documents on a Chromebook
If you are working on a pc computer, either laptop or desk model, and you open one of my fill in the blank forms ... a simple single click will open the fill in the blank space, whether its a click to fill or drag to fill.
If your assignment is downloaded to a chromebook, however, the process is a bit more complicated. When you download a fill in the blank form, whether it is a click to fill or a drag to highlight, and are expected to fill in the blank, use a triple click technique to open the blank, fill in the correct answer and move on.
Do not save, as this will change the fill in the blank to a google doc file. Instead, download the completed document as a Word docx file and store it in your Google Drive account/folder. You might want to create a CTE folder in the Google Drive so as not to lose "stuff".
You can then Submit Your Work as you would normally do to the Submitting Your Work page on the class website, browsing and accessing your completed Word docx file in your Google Drive.
I've tried this procedure on my new HP Chromebook and it works perfectly. Hope this helps...

Good Morning,
Some of you have been turning in the TinkerCad assignment correctly, some not so much. If you check your grades, those that received a grade of 50 for their TinkerCad submission didn't get the job done. If you got a 50, go back and watch the video again. If you watch the end of the video you will see that you are going to SHARE your completed Red Block as a PNG file and you can then download the file locally and save it. The saved PNG file is what you will upload to the Submitting Your Work page on the class website. Hope this helps.
This week you have a simple assignment:
1. Go to the TinkerCad Training page on the class website.
2. Read the instructions.
3. Click on the button for your class period.
4. Log in to TinkerCad with your Nickname/password.
5. Draw a 5 inch red block.
6. Submit it for grading to the Submitting Your Work page on the class website
7. The submitted work should be in the form of a PNG file

Good Morning,
I will be in the office today, virtual office that is, and online on Google Meet starting at 1 PM today and will sign off at 2:30 PM. Feel free to join me online by opening Google Meet in your Google Chrome browser, booting open the 3x3 waffle and then booting up the Google Meet app. The password for today's Meet is, as always .........monnigcte.
Today we will begin by opening the video that you will find below this message. The video will explain to you how to find the link on the TinkerCad Training page that will take you to your assigned TinkerCad drawing board. Each person will have an assigned drawing board set up in TinkerCad. Each class period will have it's own link, identified by a button for each class period. Everyone, after clicking on their Period button, will need to know their nickname/password in order to open their TinkerCad drawin board. Your nickname/password is very simply your name, in lower case letters, entered last name first, and with a comma after the last name. The first four numbers of you school ID will follow you name.
As an example, consider the following... student, sarah2651
The nickname/password for Sarah Student was entered last name first, all in lower case letters, followed the her first name and the first four digits of her school ID. Clicking on "That's me" will move you to your drawing board.

Good Morning,
Thanks to those of you that dropped by to say, Hi, yesterday during our Google Meet time. We meet every MWF from 1pm to 2:30pm. It's a good time to visit, ask questions, check up on grading or just hang out for a few minutes. I'd like to see more of y'all tomorrow.
We're still not getting enough of you signed in to Google Classroom. Remember the login code is in the spreadsheet below. The Google Classroom login is an official grade for this class, so don't blow it off.
You should have three grades at this point. Check out Focus and see how "you" stand.
Keep up the good work.
Stay safe,
Robert Bell

Good Morning,
Today is a class meeting day and I will be online from 1 to 2:30 pm. If you have questions or concerns, please log in to your computer, open up the little 3x3 waffle icon and boot up the Google Meet application. Join us using the password .....monnigcte.......
We still have some folks forgetting to double click at the top of their downloaded documents in order to enter their heading at the top of the paper. Don't forget to add your heading, please. Also, don't forget to use Save As to rename your completed assignment. Too, too many of you are turning in work that has the fill in the blank questions filled with "Click to enter text". You're not going to get a 100 with "Click to enter text" all over your worksheets.
We will be online again on Friday, same time same channel. If you have questions before then, email me. I can't email you back but I can answer a note from you in the chat on Google Classroom.
Don't forget to log in to Google Classroom using the Class Codes listed below. Logging in to Google Classroom is a grade. Check in Focus to keep up with "your" grades.
Stay safe,
Robert Bell

Stay safe,
Robert Bell

Good Morning,
This week we will begin learning a new 3D drawing application called TinkerCad form the Autodesk company. As usual, you will need to visit our class website at monnigcte.weebly.com to read the instructions, access the actual assignment and then submit the completed assignment for grading. The assignment will be a simple one, watch a 3 minute instructional video, and then pay attention to the closed captioning as you watch it again with the downloaded fill in the blank worksheet in hand (print a copy if you can...it will be easier to fill in the blanks as you watch the video). When your finished with your hard copy, fill in the blanks in the downloaded document and do a Save As to to rename the completed document and save your changes. Submit your work to the appropriate place on the class website. I will receive an email when your work comes in and I will forward the email to you to let you know it arrived.
Email me if you have questions.

Today is a school holiday.

Friday, April 10, 2020
Good Evening,
It was gratifying see so many of you respond to the emailed Progress Report to your parents by getting busy and getting your assignment done for this week. Far to many of you have not checked in to our Google Classroom. The Google Classroom class codes for each of my classes is located right below this post. Check them out and join us online.
We will have another assignment of this type for this next week, a new video and a fill in the blank worksheet to accompany it. However, it won't be about SketchUp. SketchUp doesn't work well with your Chromebooks and the online version of SketchUp, while available, would require you to have an email address. I can't require you to have an outside of district email account. So we will be moving to another, free, drawing application called Tinker Cad. You might want to look up information about Tinker Cad and perhaps look at a video or try it for yourself. It is a free, browser based drawing application that is totally online. I will be arranging a simple log in for you as a class, with a password. Next week you will be directed to watch a short video and answer the fill in the blank questions on a worksheet about Tinker Cad.
I think you will find this interesting and possibly enjoyable and you develop designing skills with this new application. This application has the advantage of being able to 3D print out whatever you design...if we had a 3D printer available. Alas, we do not at this point. You might also do a search for and read up on 3D printing. I suspect that a paper, or report, on 3D printing will be in your future. Be thinking about what you would have to say on this subject a week or so down the road.
Anyway, best wishes, be careful out there, and stay well,
Robert Bell

Good Morning,
Today we're still trying to get everyone to sign up for Google Class. Zachary Lawless in Period 1 was our first arrival, and Morgan Jones from Period 8 joined us this morning. If you find this message, use the directions in the previous post to go to GC and join your class by entering the Class Code in the Join Dialog box.
We will talk about grading next week more, but for now know that both the 5th and 6th six weeks will be assigned grades on a Pass-Fail basis. As of now, all of my students are in the Pass column regardless of what you see in Focus. You will begin to see assignments in Google Classroom and on this website beginning next week. You will receive one gradable assignment each week from me.

Good Morning,
I hope you are well and can manage to stay that way. Wash your hands several times a day, with lots of soap, and stay 6 feet from other folks. Try not to drive your parents crazy. Get some fresh air and exercise daily.
This, too, shall pass and so will you (grade-wise).
Our CTE class will continue online, apparently, with your lessons appearing on our class website as usual. We will communicate and make assignments using Google Classroom. You will be submitting any work you complete to this CTE website using the Submitting Work for Grading page ... pretty much as we have been doing all semester.
Your first assignments will appear on Google Classroom next week. You will receive an invitation to join the Robert Bell ... CTE class tomorrow. You should respond to that invitation as instructed. This will be counted as a grade ... to log in to my Google Classroom. Be sure to use the code and sign in to the correct section (period).
And, by the way, for the rest of this year, check your school email at least once per day.
You will be expected to complete two assignments for me each week after the class gets rolling, but we will only assign one per week for the first couple of weeks. We will alternate between written assignments and drawing assignments with one of each per week.
You will find videos, instructions, and downloadable files much as we have used in the past on this website.
Don't be concerned if this whole process feels new and strange ... it feels new and strange to everyone, us teachers too. We all have a lot to learn as we use this new method of teaching and learning. Hopefully, this will all be over soon or at least by the start of the next school year.
Until I see you again in person, take care yourselves and your parents and let's get through this together.

Good Morning,
Today we're going to try to get everyone to join the Google Classroom for their section and period. In order to do this you will need to go to... https://myapps.classlink.com/home.
The tab at the top of the page will identify this page as "My Apps". You should now find and click on the icon for Google Classroom to open it.
In the upper right hand corner you will find a plus sign (+). Hover over but do not click on the plus sign yet. It will say "Create or join a class". When you click on the plus sign, you will be given the choice of selecting the Create a class or Join a class.
Click on Join a class. You will next see a dialog box asking for the class code for your particular section ... that is, your class period.

That's all you need to do today except to begin checking your email each day at least once. Please remember that you now have several different teachers that will be trying to talk to you several times each week about your work.
You've earned your grade for April 1st and that's no April Fool joke. Congratulations. Good Job.
Talk again tomorrow.
